Working closely with our client, PESC developed cost-effective structural designs for several types of canopies to support photovoltaic panel systems. Multi-tasking structures act not only as support for PV panels, but as carports and shade canopies. Structural configurations include several one-column and two-column variations. Canopies are framed with hot-dipped structural steel primary members and light-gage cold-formed secondary members. PESC designed foundations for structures at grade, and provided special analysis and details for canopies mounted onto existing parking garages.
PESC performed the structural design of:
- McCalla Residential Carport / Austin, TX
- Meridian Solar Carports Standardized Canopy Designs (Phase 1) / Austin, TX
- Shade Canopies at Texas Parks & Wildlife / Sheldon Lake, TX
- Carports at UT Arlington Garage / Arlington, TX
