P.E. Structural provided full structural engineering services for two phases ($9M total construction) of the First Evangelical Free Church new campus in southwest Austin.  PESC met the architectural goals and satisfied the structural demands economically; these multi-story buildings were constructed using concrete tilt-walls and conventional structural steel framing.  In both the buildings and the arcades, the structure was largely exposed and incorporated into the architectural spirit of the campus.

A 100ft clear span was achieved in the Multi-purpose Building with custom exposed tube steel super-trusses to provide the open worship space.  The 3-story Children’s Education Center provides classroom and office space, and a full gymnasium on the third floor.  To ensure the effects of activities in the gym were not felt by others in the building, special analyses of live loading and floor vibration were performed.  Generous assembly and office space occupy the 3-story New Fellowship Center.

PESC’s careful detailing and cooperation with the architect are manifested in an arching masonry portico and exposed steel arcades that connect the primary buildings both visually and functionally.
