P.E. Structural designed the east to south Direct Connector in Phase 2 of construction at this Interchange in northwest Dallas. The 1,677ft long, 15-span structure consists of Type IV prestressed concrete I-beam units and a continuous steel plate girder unit (135ft-150ft-125ft) on a 818ft radius. Aesthetic single-column hammerhead bents are supported on multi-shaft footings. Additionally, PESC was called on to utilize our aesthetic design expertise to adapt the established aesthetic concept, developing aesthetic details and renderings for visualization of unique bents within the interchange. Plans were produced under a tight schedule, and with close coordination with District personnel. Approximately $4M Construction. Completed 2006.
